Newcastle singer-songwriter ERNIE finds the light at the end of the tunnel on his new single 'Inertia'. The dusky track is taken from the ERNIE’s upcoming EP Sunsoaked, and it taps into a pocket of classic Americana textures — warm acoustic fingerpicking, a loose rhythm within its alternating kick and snare, and a bassline that hums through to keep the song rooted. But the folky tones are expanded upon with gauzy layers of spectral piano melodies, distantly drifting harmonies and the light shimmer of electric guitar. ‘Inertia’ pairs this golden hour-tinged instrumental with lyrics that come from a wearier place, settling a heartfelt, hopeful contrast.
